Newton called forth everyone from the Air Tribe. He had Kifu by his side, and Clay sitting right in front of him. Everyone else had to find a spot in the clearing, leaving them straining their necks to see what was happening.

"I called everyone here today, because it's a new moon," Newton began. "It's also the day that marks the full year of this young man's journey with the Air Tribe." He paused, letting the crowd shout out thair applause. "Today, young Clay Wafter, I am graduation you to a second-stage apprentice."

He took a step forward. "Son, which path would you like to choose? Remember, once your choice is made, there is no going back, and you are forever bestowed with the duties of that future."

Kifu smiled at Clay, knowing which path he wanted, but wasn't sure whether or not he was going to choose it. What if Clay didn't take it, and was miserable for the rest of his life? She hoped that he wasn't pressured to make a choice that the rest of the Tribe wanted to hear, and he ignored them and chose what was best for him as an individual.

CLay thought for a moment, he knew that training as a Hunter under Kifu would be fun, and he knew that Warrior would be what Nicoma (And probably most of the people here) what want from him, but he couldn't stand hurting a living creature.

Brooks had told him long ago that as a Healer you couldn't save everybody, and that sometime you have blood on your hands because you were unable to save someone. But Clay would rather have a chance to save than to cause harm.

So with desicions on his mind and a single course in his heart he held up his head and said clearly, "Healer."

Kifu felt relived that Clay had chosen that path that was right for him. She smiled her appreciation for his choice.

Newton, on the other hand, looked shocked. "A Healer?" he asked him. "Very well. Clay Wafter, your apprenticed under Daniel Brooks. Let Brooks teach you the ways of a Healer, and we all hope you luck in your path."

Brooks stepped forward and held out his hand. "I'm glad you made the right choice, Wafter. I hope you're ready to learn."

Clay took his new mentor's hand. "I am. I'll do my best to learn everything you have to teach me." He said.

"Then I'll do the best I can to teach you," Brooks vowed.

The rest of the Tribe broke up, leaving just Clay, Brooks and Kifu in the clearing. Clay's old mentor walked up to him. "Clay, I know that you couldn't have a much better mentor than Brooks. Do as good, or better, under his watch, as you had under mine." She bowed her head. "It was nice having you as an apprentice. I will remember our time together for lifetimes."

Her serious manner suddenly broke up. "But just because Brooks is your mentor doesn't mean we can still be friends."

Clay smiled. "I loved being your apprentice Kifu. I will never forget the times we had together." HE held his hand out to his old mentor and friend. "And I know I'll still see you around, right?"

Kifu laughed and took his hand. Deciding that that wasn't enough, she pulled him closer in a hug, and whispered in his ear, "Of course I'll see you around. You opened my eyes, and I'm grateful for that." Then she pulled out of the hug, bowed her head and stalked off.

Brooks came up beside Wafter. "It's rare to see such affection from her," he commented. "You're lucky to be such a close friend to her."

"Yeah." Clay said softly, "I guess I am." He watched as Kifu walked away, thinking of what she had just said. She had opened many things up to him as well. She had shown him trust that most people would never show.

She's taught me more than she'll ever know. CLay thought to himself.

Kifu knocked on Newton's door the following day. "Newton," she said. "I have to go. The time is near."

Newton nodded his head. "Do you wish someone to go with you?" he asked. Kifu shook her head. "Very well. You know where the camp is. We will miss you in the time that you are gone."

"And I you," Kifu replied.

"And while you are gone, Arya Gray will take your place as Head Huntstress."

"I have no objections."

"Alright. Kifu Slick, have an easy-going trip, and a healthy one. We will see you in the next season."

Kifu bowed and left the camp. She didn't bother to pack anything, except a quiver and two arrows, her bow and her hunting knife. She didn't like leaving her Tribe, but it was what she had to do.
