Wicked Shadow

The only place my shadow can't follow me is: the light.
The sweet holy brightness that surrounds me
Light scares away my shadow
My dark, evil, being
The light keeps me safe from the stalker,
The follower that walks along my side

I now crouch in a corner
Filled with a pure white and intense glow
No shadow in front, or behind
But... this citadel of darkness still surrounds my brighter corner
As long as I'm in the light... it cannot harm

That shadow, that wicked shadow
It watches me, it stares at me
It waits for the light to scatter away
It wants me, to rid me of my illuminated soul
No... I will not let that happen

Hissing, hissing with anger,
It cannot reach me
I am safe hear
Protected from the darkness

My light...My light... What is happening?
It's... It's withering away!
NO! NO! It's dimming into the darkness!
My shadow smiles slyly
Oh how I hate that maleficent, bloody smile

Curling up tighter... Tighter in the corner
The light is slipping away
NO! NO! The shadows are getting closer

The laughter, such hateful laughter
So triumphant, but very evil
So proud, but horribly demonic

Closer, it's coming closer
NO! Get away! Go! Leave me be!
The light... My safety... It is gone...

With final laugh, a final chuckle,
It takes me away
Claw like hands, digging into my skin
Dragging me with it, it takes me away
Far far away to my.....

I really, really liked the first four stanzas... but I wasn' too thrilled with the rest [except the very last one]. I don't know why. Maybe because of the begging? I don't know. Otherwise, very, very good job. Keep it up.
